Dr. Max Hélie has more than 35 years' experience in the field of corrosion, mostly acquired in the nuclear industry where he has managed national and international research programmes (corrosion in nuclear power plants, in waste storage and disposal,...) in collaboration with various countries of the European Communities as well as China and the USA.

​Author and co-author of numerous scientific publications, he also wrote a book on the basics of corrosion "Corrosion des Matériaux Métalliques" (Ellipses Ed.), which  reflects the course he taught for more than 15 years at the "École Nationale Supérieure des Techniques Avancées" (ENSTA).

As former Convenor of ISO TC 156 Working Group 9 "Corrosion testing of materials for power generation" and former Chairman of AFNOR A05-AG "Corrosion des métaux et alliages - revêtements inorganiques", he also contributed to the drafting and publication, in English and in French, of numerous national and international standards in the field of corrosion.

He is also a member of the Board of Administrators of the French Center for Anti-Corrosion (CEFRACOR).
